Jazz Jennings was born on October 6, 2000 in the USA. Her family is Jewish. Jennings has older sisters Ari, two older brothers and twin brothers Sander and Griffen. Jennings was born a boy. She was diagnosed with gender dysphoria at the age of five, making him one of the youngest people to be identified as transsexual. As a child, Jennings went to Camp Aranu’tiq, the first boarding camp for transgender children.
Jennings went to Broward Virtual School, where she was the winner of her class in 2019. She was accepted into Harvard University, but delayed entry for a year.
When Jennings was six years old, they began appearing on TV with her family to talk about the challenges of growing up as a transsexual. Her story was covered by the national television shows 20/20 and Rosie Show, where she appeared alongside Chaz Bono. In 2007, Jennings and her family founded the TransKids Purple Rainbow Foundation to assist transgender youth.
In 2011, I Jazz: A Family in Transition, a documentary about her life and family, premiered on the Oprah Winfrey Network.
