Elizabeth Banks was born on February 10, 1974 in the USA. Her father, a Vietnam War veteran, was a factory worker for General Electric, and her mother worked in a bank. Growing up, Banks played baseball and rode a horse. HShe graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1992 and is a member of the Massachusetts Junior Classic League.
Delta joined the University of Pennsylvania, where Delta was a member of Delta Sorority and elected to the Friars Senior Society. She graduated from magna cum laude in 1996 with a major in communications and a major in theater arts. In 1998, he completed her education at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, California, where she received an MFA degree.
Banks changed her name after joining the Screen Actors Guild because actress Elizabeth Mitchell had to change her name because she was registered. After the audition in New York, she starred in the soap opera Santa Barbara. Taking on the role would require him to drop out of her education at the American Conservatory Theater, and Banks eventually decided to give up the offer, as she had received a student loan to complete her degree. She made her acting debut as Elizabeth Casey in the 1998 independent film Surrender Dorothy, and over the next seven years appeared in several films such as Wet Hot American Summer (2001), Swept Away (2002) and Seabiscuit (2003).
In 2006, Banks appeared in the American football drama movie Invincible, in which she played the love affair of Mark Wahlberg. Later, she and co-star Wahlberg were nominated for “Best Kiss” at the MTV Movie Awards. That same year, she starred in the comedy-horror movie Slither. Banks played the female lead in the comedy film Meet Bill in 2007 alongside Aaron Eckhart and Jessica Alba. In 2015, she was selected as a member of the 2015 Venice Film Festival Main Competition Jury. The festival was chaired by Alfonso Cuarón. In 2018, Banks played the role of Jenny with Melissa McCarthy and Maya Rudolph in the comedy movie The Happytime Murders.
Banks met her husband Max Handelman, a sports writer and producer from Portland, Oregon, on September 7, 1992, on her first day of college. They got married in 2003. The couple has two sons born with surrogacy.
