Amanda Holden was born on February 16, 1971 in England. Although born in Portsmouth, Holden spent most of his childhood in Bishop’s Waltham and joined Bishop’s Waltham Little Theater Company at the age of nine. She moved to Bournemouth at the age of 16 and then attended Mountview Academy of Theater Arts.
Holden first appeared as a contestant on the Blind Date game show in 1991. From 2006 to 2008, Holden appeared as Sarah Trevanian in three series of ITV’s Wild at Heart, starring Stephen Tompkinson. She starred in British TV shows in the comedy series Celeb, including Smack the Pony, EastEnders, Hearts and Bones, Cutting It, and Harry Enfield. Holden presented the A Night of Heroes: The Sun Military Awards each year at ITV, together with Phillip Schofield, from 2009 to 2014. She was a co-host on This Morning with Phillip Schofield during Holly Willoughby’s maternity leave from September 22 to December 18, 2014.
Holden married the Comedian Les Dennis in June 1995. The couple, who broke up temporarily in 2000, when Holden’s relationship with actor Neil Morrissey became the subject of the press, separated permanently in December 2002 and divorced in 2003. Around this time, she claimed that she was sexually assaulted by a “famous unnamed comedian” at a public event. Holden is a longtime supporter of English Premier League Football Club Everton and participated in home and away matches when his schedule allowed it. It has been vegetarian since the age of 13.
