Samara Weaving was born on February 23, 1992 in Australia. She is the daughter of an English father and a Maltese mother. She grew up in Singapore, Fiji and Indonesia. Her father, Simon Weaving, is a filmmaker and lecturer at Newcastle University in Newcastle, New South Wales, and is also the artistic director of the Canberra International Film Festival. Her mother, Helena Bezzina, is an art therapist who teaches museum studies at Newcastle University.
Weaving’s first major acting role was Kirsten Mulroney in the 2008 Australian-UK soap opera Out of the Blue. In 2009, she starred as Indigo “Indi” Walker on the Australian soap opera Home and Away. For her role as Indi, Weaving was nominated for the Audience Choice Award for Best Female Performance in Television Drama at the 1st AACTA Awards in 2012. In 2012, she started modeling for the Australian underwear brand Bonds. In 2017, she appeared in the music video for Charlie Puth’s “Attention” song.
She played Nelson Rose on the Showtime drama SMILF from 2017 to 2019. Weaving also joined the cast of the new Hulu series Nine Perfect Strangers, based on Liane Moriarty’s novel of the same name.
Weaving announced that she will be engaged to producer Jimmy Warden on March 10, 2019.
